Client proofing galleries: collect favorites and find your files

A selection you can work from
On Pelli, you can let clients choose photos in a gallery, receive their confirmation, and retrieve the references for the selected images. A good process connects your instructions, their favorites, and the working files you will finish.
📷 Prepare the images and their filenames
Create a Selection gallery to present your previews. This type enables selection and watermarking, with downloads disabled by default. Check your gallery options before sharing the link.
Upload an edited selection and keep filenames that match your working catalog. If a preview is called Studio_014.jpg, keep the same base reference for the file to retouch. You can then find the right image after the client chooses.
🎯 Set the expected number of photos
On Pelli, you can enable a selection limit and define the number of images. If your package includes eight photographs, enter that number in the settings and in your message.
You can also allow extra selections, add a message, and display a price per additional photo according to your settings. Clearly explain the terms in your offer: selection records the client’s choices, while payment follows your sales process.
💌 Give the client brief instructions
Share the link to your Pelli online galleries with a precise next step. For example: “Choose your eight images, review your favorites, then send your selection when it is complete.” The client signs in by email to save their preferences.
Likes let clients mark images. If superlikes are enabled in your design settings, they offer a second level of preference. Explain their role if you want clients to distinguish their strongest choices.
✅ Receive a confirmed selection
In the Favorites view, the client reviews their summary and uses “Send favorites.” They can attach a message to this confirmation. You receive an email with the list of selected photos.
In your dashboard, open the gallery’s favorites and choose the relevant client. You will find their images and confirmation status. This helps you distinguish a selection still in progress from one ready to review.
🗂️ Display the right images before copying
On Pelli, you can filter the client’s selection: all preferences, likes, or superlikes. The copied list matches the displayed filter. Check the selected mode and image count before retrieving the references.
Example: after a studio portrait session, your client confirms eight images, including three superlikes. To finish all eight portraits, keep the full filter. To review the three strongest preferences, display only superlikes.
💻 Find the selection in Lightroom
Use “Copy list,” then choose the Lightroom format. Pelli copies image names without their extensions, separated by commas. Use this list in your catalog search to find the matching files.
The copy tool also offers search formats for Windows and Mac. Keep a consistent naming convention and check the results before starting retouching. The link between preview and working file depends on these stable references.
✨ Move from selection to delivery
Review the client’s message and any comments attached to the images. Confirm the agreed finishing work, then prepare your retouching in your usual software.
Once the photographs are finished, prepare the delivery gallery and its downloads. Explain which files are ready and how to retrieve them. The client moves from a confirmed choice to a clearly identified delivery.
Before returning to your files
Confirmed selection; correct client; full or targeted filter; checked image count; filenames matching your catalog. These five checks let you work from the selection without copying every reference by hand.
