HD photo downloads: set up delivery in your Pelli galleries
Lisa
Clear delivery, from link to file
On Pelli, you can allow photo downloads, define who has access, and offer individual downloads or the complete gallery. Prepare the right files, then tell clients which version to choose for their needs.
📷 Prepare the files you will actually deliver
The original version is the file you uploaded. To deliver finished HD photos, prepare high-resolution exports before adding them to the gallery. Downloading provides that file; it does not turn a small preview into a high-definition image.
Check dimensions, framing, and finishing. Give files clear names so clients can find them after downloading. Your Pelli online galleries then present this delivery in a space that reflects your brand.
⚙️ Enable gallery downloads
The Delivery type enables downloads by default. In the gallery options, check this setting and the public download setting. They answer different questions: can photos be downloaded, and which visitors can download them?
On Pelli, you can reserve downloads for clients linked to the gallery by disabling public downloads. Prepare the relevant access permissions and test the sign-in process before sending the link.
⬇️ Distinguish one photo from the complete gallery
Clients can download an individual photograph using its download button. This retrieves the original version of the image.
For the complete gallery, the download button opens a quality choice. File preparation may involve a wait; visitors who are not signed in are asked for an email address during preparation. Explain this in your message if the series is large.
🖼️ Explain the two available versions
For a complete download, clients can choose the original or optimized version. Give instructions based on their needs:
- Original: the uploaded file, for keeping the high resolution you delivered.
- Optimized: a version adapted for the web, useful when clients want lighter files.
Example: you deliver a studio portrait session. Your message invites the client to download the original version to keep the HD files and the optimized version for web use. Usage terms remain those agreed in your assignment.
❤️ Prepare delivery of selected favorites
Favorites identify the client’s preferences. If your package delivers only the chosen images, prepare the finished files from that selection and check the content available to download.
For photographers, Pelli lets you download the items you select in gallery management as a ZIP. This working download is separate from the complete download offered to clients: prepare their delivery with the images actually included.
🛍️ Align downloads and sales
A gallery can offer both a store and downloads. Check that files available free of charge match your package and that paid digital products have a clear purchasing process.
When the store and downloads are enabled together, Pelli asks you to confirm this choice or disable downloads, depending on the gallery type. Review the settings before opening the gallery: clients should understand what they can retrieve and what they can buy.
✨ Test delivery before sending the link
Open the link while signed out of your photographer account. Check access, download a photo, and test the complete gallery process. Examine the resulting file, its name, and its resolution.
Your delivery message can then identify the ready series, explain the recommended version, and say how to retrieve the files. A few precise sentences guide clients from discovering the images to using them.
Your final check
HD files uploaded; downloads enabled; public or reserved access checked; recommended version explained; included content reviewed; process tested. You know what clients receive when they open the link.
